1) CSU Jazz Lab Band, directed by Prof. Jordan Pollard
2) CSU Jazz Ensemble, directed by Prof. Hal Melia

This Workshop is a preamble to our Jazz Labs Dayton Summer Jazz Camp, now in its 30th year! Students from Junior High thru High School are welcome to meet at the University of Dayton and take advantage of a chance to play Jazz with peers and instructors from the Camp.

I helped Kim start this big band 50 years ago in a small basement in Page Manor - now Kim has one of the workingest bands around, and many of the top pro players in the area find their way to his gigs. This concert is right outside on the street in Tipp City, and promises to be a great time!

This is always a fun hang - great food, great atmosphere, and great musicians playing straight ahead jazz! Mike Sharfe always puts together stellar groups, and most recently I was able to reconnect with pianist Phil DeGreg and drummer John Taylor. What a delicous night of music that was - looking forward to repeating the experience - hope you can come share it!
